The Society normally organizes a three-day annual conference in November or December. It also holds regular regional conferences and workshops and co-sponsors events with partner organizations. 2008 September 5-7, Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge, UK, Beyond the Lecture Hall: Universities and Community Engagement from the middle ages to the present day. A conference hosted by the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education in collaboration with the History of Education Society UK to mark the 800th anniversary of Cambridge University in 2009. A 'work in progress' session is offered to encourage historians of education in the early stage of their research careers to present a short paper of about 10 minutes outlining their project or aspects of their investigation. These presentations may be on any topic in education history, regardless of the conference theme. The aim is to provide constructive support and advice from other researchers to generate networks with common interests. Please submit a proposed title and abstract of 250 words to Susannah Wright: susannahwright@brookes.ac.uk. Unwaged researchers presenting in this forum as student members of the HES UK may also be eligible for conference bursaries.
